OUR MEMBERS IN THE LOUISVILLE AREA, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE . . .
If you are in the range of WHAS-TV (Channel 11 in Louisville) tonight, look for a story on the 6 o’clock news about alleged irregularities in the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services involving the regulation of nursing homes.
WHAS-TV Reporter Mark Hebert will report that one of the state’s top nursing home regulators, an employee in the cabinet’s Office of the Inspector General, has been fired, and that the FBI and state attorney general’s office are investigating allegations of allegedly improper relationships with a Kentucky nursing home operator. The allegations, according to Mr. Hebert, involve hundreds of phone calls to the nursing home operator, several of them on the same day state investigators and inspectors were headed to the facility for a “surprise” visit.
Another allegation in the WHAS-TV story is that the former employee lives in a home in Lexington owned by the same nursing home operator, with no proof that he is paying any rent.
We will keep you posted on this big story as developments warrant.
