NURSING HOME REFORM
NEWSLETTER
December 20, 2005
We put aside the serious stuff of nursing home reform this month to
bring you our Christmas greeting:
SANTA, PLEASE BRING...
...NURSING HOME RESIDENTS, enough front-line caregivers to
provide them quality care and to keep them safe and happy.
...THE NURSES AIDES, the certified nursing assistants, please
bring them better pay, good benefits and better working conditions.
...GOVERNOR FLETCHER the opportunity to do something for the
"Forgotten Kentuckians" in nursing homes, something big that would get
him headlines he would enjoy seeing on newspapers’ front pages in 2006.
...LEGISLATORS the chance in the 2006 session to do something
really meaningful for the "Forgotten Kentuckians" in nursing homes by
passing legislation that will mandate minimum staffing standards.
...STATE BUREAUCRATS, especially the ones in expensive black
suits, red ties and six-figure salaries, bring them compassion for the
poor and elderly, the "Forgotten Kentuckians" in nursing homes.
...THE NURSING HOME INDUSTRY, especially the ones in expensive
black suits, red ties and six-figure salaries, bring them compassion for
the people they serve and a new desire to work with advocates for good
care of the "Forgotten Kentuckians." There’s plenty of money, folks, to
do your job right and still make a profit.
...THE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT NURSING HOME REFORM, all of you who
read this newsletter and offer us messages of support, and those who
have given of their time and money to support this good cause, all the
blessings of Christmas and the New Year, and a Happy Holiday for all.

P.S.
THE FOUR STAGES OF LIFE:
1) You believe in Santa Claus.
2) You don't believe in Santa Claus.
3) You are Santa Claus.
4) You look like Santa Claus.
